Chapter 6 Lesson Plan

·       Please review my notes over the first half of Chapter 6.

·       Watch the video for Enthalpy and Calorimetry (first video). It is about 30 min.

·       Work on the assignment posted. (Page 1, Page 2, Page 3, Page 4) I took pictures of the homework since I assumed most of you did not take the book home. Do the circled problems up to #64.

·       Note for Problem 62.         You have 200 g of solution (mass to calculate “q”).            Remember qsolution = -qreaction  so you will have to change the sign of the joules.   H will equal q but change Joules to kJ and divide by the number of moles of water formed which will be 0.10 moles for this problem.

·       Please review my notes on the second half of Chapter 6.  Watch the second video on Hess’s Law and H of reactions, then do the rest of the assignment (all circled problems up to #64 from the pages posted above.)

·       The last problem on your assignment requires use of the appendix from your book.  Here are three links to the full appendix:  Page 1, Page 2, Page 3.

·       Remember, our first class meeting on Google Hangout will be Tuesday morning at 9:30am for Group F and 11:00am for Group G.  I will be sending out meeting invitations tomorrow.  Make sure – if you have not already done so – to respond to my Group Post/email from Friday, the 20th.

·       Stay healthy. Watch for new emails and posts.
